Abstract
Using KI to protect the thyroid, Triolein I13l was fed to 2 normal rabbits and also to 7 atherosclerotic, normocholesteremic rabbits. As control, NaIl31 was fed to 2 (KI protected) normal rabbits and 1 atherosclerotic rabbit. Four days after the last of 3 daily doses of Triolein I131 radioactivity was found in the atherosclerotic aortas, concentrated preferentially in the atherosclerotic infiltration itself. Radioactivity was also found in the adrenal cortex, aortic and perirenal fat, but only very little in the adrenal medulla, liver, kidney, and thyroid. In normal rabbits no radioactivity was found in the aorta after Triolein I131. Localization of I131 could be demonstrated clearly by radio-autographs.Keywords
