Abstract
Emission and excitation spectra for new kinds of centers in MgO:Cr have been observed. By comparing the excitation spectra and the lifetime of these centers with the corresponding-more accurate than available in the literature-measurements relative to cubic and tetragonal ones, and by investigating the symmetry of the new centers by polarization experiments, useful information on the physical nature of the centers could be gained. Keywords
