Abstract
AS LOEB AND MEYER pointed out in their monograph1 on the vertebrobasilar vascular system the venous anatomy of the hindbrain seems largely to have been neglected in the literature. The increasing demands for exactness in x-ray diagnosis and other clinical work have made it desirable to know more about the normal venous areas of drainage and the venous angio-architecture of this region.1 The purpose of the present work was to study the venous anatomy by stereomicroangiography. Material and Methods Hindbrain specimens from 61 necropsies were used. The necropsies were chosen at random at the Department of Pathology, University Hospital, Umeå, Sweden, from subjects in which the clinical examination had disclosed no signs of brain disease. There were four children aged less than 1 year, and the age range of the remaining subjects was 47 to 89 years.
