Abstract
Daily feeding of 2 fresh bovine anterior-pituitary glands causes no increase in body weight, or in the tail or body length of the hypophysectomized rat as compared with hypophysectomized controls receiving an equal amount of fresh muscle as a control substance. The growth curves of the operated animals fed these 2 special substances thus parallel each other. The anterior-pituitary feeding also fails to restore the atrophied genital system, thyroids, or adrenal cortex of the hypophysectomized rat.
