Abstract
Colleges and universities have identified tourism education and training as a growth market, especially important with formula‐funding, and low capital costs involved in starting courses. This paper attempts to distinguish between tourism education and training, drawing on the views of leading commentators and industry practice. Several course types are reviewed along with the changes currently taking place. Finally, two issues likely to impact on tourism education and training in the 1990s are discussed.
