Abstract
This study focused on value differences among three generations and examined variations by sex, education, religion, and rural-urban residency. A college student, his two parents, and one grandparent from each of 73 three generation families were interviewed and respondents were asked to state their reactions to a series of 50 statements covering eight major contemporary issues. Wide differences were found both between student and parent generations and between parent and grandparent generations on six of the eight issues. Age consistently contributes to the explanation of generational differences in values and attitudes even when controls on non-age variables are applied. Keywords
