Abstract
Synopsis: This paper summarizes the characteristics of thixotropic behaviour and gives examples of industrial materials that show this property. It reviews the physical and chemical bases of thixotropy and discusses the theoretical derivation of mode constitutive equations. Measurement techniques are described and some results are given. The paper concludes with a brief discussion of application of measurement results. Keywords
