Abstract
Electrical stimulation of the spinal cord and of the detrusor was compared in 5 ‘acute’ dogs. Strong detrusor contraction and rise in intravesical pressure were obtained either way but, with spinal cord stimulation, concomitant rise in urethral resistance prevented micturition. Stimulation with a bladder pacemaker induced detrusor contraction high enough to overcome outflow resistance, thus was more effective in initiating voiding. Keywords
