Abstract
Summary. Haem synthesis was studied in three patients with erythroleukaemia. Defective synthesis was demonstrated in all cases by a markedly lowered bone marrow δ‐aminolaevulic acid synthetase activity and diminished [14C]glycine and [4C]δ‐aminolaevulic acid incorporation rates into haem. These abnormalities of haem synthesis were improved by blood transfusion. Keywords
