Abstract
Whether to treat hypertension in the elderly bas been a subject of considerable controversy. Even though the final verdict is not in, it seems reasonable to proceed with therapy simply because of the increased risk of stroke in these patients. However, the usual adult regimen must be modified, using half doses and only those agents with no potential for reducing coronary or cerebral blood flow. Every effort must be made to a void side effects and promote patient compliance. Keywords
