Abstract
This paper presents new high-resolution maps of 3C 315 and 3C 264 made at Cambridge with the One-Mile and 5-km radio telescopes. The structure of 3C 264 at 2 ·7 and 5·0 GHz is similar to that observed at 0·4 and 1·4 GHz, though the decrease in source size with frequency noted by Macdonald, Kenderdine & Neville continues. The maps of 3C 315 reveal a structure quite unlike that of any sources mapped hitherto. The sources are interpreted in terms of the thermal pressure confinement models of radio galaxies.
