Abstract
The rare disease entity, septic thrombosis of the cavernous sinus, still occurs occasionally. The physician should be aware of this fact when treating minor infections of the nasal-orbital areas. A case report is presented below, which shows the response of a patient with this disease to vigorous antibiotic therapy. A brief review of the literature is presented to demonstrate the rarity and seriousness of this disease. Report of a Case History.— A 10-year-old girl was admitted to the hospital with a history of having bumped her head against that of another child five days prior to admission. She complained to her mother that she had hurt her left eye, but no sign of injury was present and the incident was ignored.
