Description of a New Species of Cyrtodactylus from Afghanistan with Remarks on the Status of Gymnodactylus longipes and Cyrtodactylus fedtschenkoi

Abstract
A new species of Cyrtodactylus, C. voraginosus is described from the Helmand Basin of Afghanistan. The new species, closely related to C. longipes from eastern Iran, belongs to the C. caspius-C. fedtschenkoi section. A vicariance model, based on Neogene compressional deformation of southwestern Asia, is proposed to account for the present-day distribution of these species of Cyrtodactylus allied to C. caspius.
