Abstract
Polio virus in tissue culture fluids from 1st or 2d passage in monkey kidney roller tubes was tested in mice. Fifty-one Type 1 and 20 Type 3 strains were entirely negative when inoculated intraspinally. Forty-five of 56 Type 2 strains produced paralysis intraspinally and 11 intracerebrally. Those having the higher titers intraspinally tended to be positive intracerebrally. No correlation between tissue culture titer and mouse intraspinal titer was apparent. Six strains of Type 2 were isolated directly in mice from 39 stools tested. Keywords
