Redevelopment of the city centre: The case of Lyon—la part Dieu

Abstract
In an attempt to overcome the problems of congestion and inadequate service provision in its traditional central business district, the city of Lyon has promoted the ‐creation of a new, complementary centre—La Part Dieu. The venture forms part of a wider strategy to revitalise the city's central area and inner suburbs, and it is intended to act as an important influence in Lyon's development as a major European business centre.
