Abstract
We have used a polarized proton beam to measure the analyzing power for backward elastic scattering at incident kinetic energies of 0.68, 1.03, and 1.53 GeV and for the reaction at 1.03 GeV. The data indicate that several mechanisms dominate backward elastic scattering over this energy range.
