Upper Limit on the $ω \to 2 π$ Decay Rate From $\bar{p} n$ Annihilations at Rest

Abstract

Antiproton-neutron annihilations at rest (

L = 0

) into

G

-parity states of opposite sign are incoherent. This permits a measurement of the ratio

R = \frac{(ω \to π^{+} π^{-})}{(ω \to π^{+} π^{-} π^{0})}

in the absence of

ω ρ

interference. In this way we find the upper limit

R < 4.3 %

at the 97.5% confidence level (

Δ χ^{2} = 4

).
