Abstract
The transient thermal-lens effect produced by a pulsed laser in a 6CB nematic liquid crystal film containing a small amount of an absorbing dye is considered. A suitable time-dependent model for the thermal-lens effect is presented. The analysis leads to a simple way of determining the principal thermal-diffusion constants in nematic liquid crystal materials. Keywords
