Abstract
Conditions are given for a general 'interactions-round-a-face' (IRF) model in statistical mechanics to have a disorder point, and expressions obtained for the free energy and intra-low correlations. These are applied to the checkerboard Potts model, thereby verifying a recent conjecture by Jaeckel and Maillard (1984).Keywords
