Abstract
The oxidation-reduction potential (Eh) and pH of 5 ml. samples of unstimulated saliva was detd. within one minute after the removal of saliva from the mouth. Gold-platinum and glass electrodes were used for Eh and pH measurements, respectively. The saliva of 7 individuals during a 12 mo. period of study gave an average initial Eh of 301 mv. from 1555 tests, and an avg. pH of 6.64. Eh values increased steadily during the last 3 mos. of study (July, Aug., Sept.) over the preceding 9 mos., suggesting a seasonal fluctuation, but no consistent fluctuations were found between Eh tests from different individuals or different times of the day. Keywords
