OXIDASE REACTION WITH LEPTOSPIRAL COLONIES AND ITS ADAPTATION TO ANTIBIOTIC SENSITIVITY TESTING

Abstract
Leptospiral colonies give a typical oxidase test with p-aminodimethylaniline oxalate. A deep pink coloration occurs within 2 minutes after adding the reagent. This reaction increases the visibility of these transparent colonies and is therefore adapted as an indicator to read zones of growth and inhibition around antibiotic discs.
