Abstract
A comparative description is presented of captivity behavior of 3 spp. of southern African shrews: C. flavescens (I. Geoffroy 1827), C. mariquensis (A. Smith 1844) and M. varius (Smuts 1832). While no differences in feeding and drinking habits were observed, species-specific behavioral differences were apparent between these 3 spp. in defecation, burrowing, nest-building, substrate preferences, activity peaks, exploratory behavior, sleeping posture, grooming, vocalization and aggression. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
