Abstract
200 good readers and 41 poor readers selected from 718 pupils in a primary school, grade 1-6 were examined in respect of stereopsis, visual acuity, phorias, tropias, fusional breakpoint, fusional amplitude and objective refraction. No statistical difference was found between the 2 reader groups, and the need for optical aid was of the same order. 80 of the 241 children had unnecessary glasses, and many of those who needed spectacles were improperly aided. Keywords
