Abstract
We propose that Alzheimer's disease is initiated by failure of axonal transport. After the neurodegeneration cascade is initiated, microglial and astroglial cells have major roles in directly and indirectly promoting self-sustaining neurodegeneration cycles. This hypothesis makes testable predictions and suggests logical therapies. Keywords
