Abstract
Recently, it has been shown that the first stage of the F-centre coloration curve by ionization radiation in NaCl is formed mostly by two exponential growths. In this paper the influence of the irradiation temperature of both exponential growths is presented. Further evidence on the different nature of these growths was obtained. It is shown that the fast growth is not operative for F-centre formation below about 200 K. It was concluded that this mechanism is very closely related to the presence of OH and H impurities in these samples. It is found that the slow mechanism is operative from liquid nitrogen temperature up to room temperature, and might well be related to the migration of interstitials produced by the ionizing radiation. Keywords
