Abstract
PATIENTS with implanted pacemakers are often seen initially by a physician in an emergency situation. It is thus imperative that the physician have an easily available, unmistakable way to specifically identify the implanted pacemaker. At present, there are five major brands of electronic pacemakers in use in the United States; all these pacemaker units are not interchangeable.
