Abstract
Adequate amniotic fluid volume is considered an important aspect of fetal well being, and whether defined subjectively or by one of various objective measurements, oligohydramnios is associated with abnormal fetal outcomes such as intrauterine growth retardation, postmaturity syndrome, fetal anomalies, and fetal distress in labor. Because of poor outcomes associated with oligohydramnios, various treatment modalities have been evaluated. The efficacy of treatment for oligohydramnios depends on the cause of the oligohydramnios and the gestational age at which it is diagnosed.
