ALTHOUGH the problem of reinfection in acquired syphilis is more or less well known, reinfection in patients treated for congenital syphilis is not well appreciated. This fact is not surprising, because before 1941, there were no documented cases of reinfection in a patient with congenital syphilis.1 The three patients with early infectious syphilis described below were treated for congenital syphilis (Table 1).
