LEIOMYOSARCOMA OF THE SMALL BOWEL IN A CHILD

Abstract
The case of a 7.5-year-old girl with a leiomyosarcoma of the jejunum is presented. The interesting features in this case were the fever of undetermined origin for 7 weeks; a suggestively positive heterophil and the complete absence of abdominal symptoms. Resection has resulted in survival, to date (5 years). The importance of considering malignancy as the cause of any protracted illness of obscure origin in children is stressed.
