Abstract
A series of equations are presented which can be employed for the design of most aerobic biological treatment processes including activated sludge, aerated lagoons, and extended aeration. These relationships permit estimation of required aeration volume, sludge yields and oxygen requirements. For any particular wastewater, comparative designs can be developed from relatively limited experimental data. The procedures are illustrated by a design example and a summary of the pertinent design parameters for each of the aerobic biological treatment processes is provided. Keywords
