A Rapid Radioimmunoassay for Insulin

Abstract
A rapid and simple method for the radioimmunoassay of insulin is described. It is possible to assay 100 samples in less than 12 hours. In the assay a polystyrene test tube is coated with insulin antibody which will quantitatively bind insulin. The tube provides a reaction vessel and also a method of separating bound from free insulin, as the latter is removed by aspirating the solution after incubation. When both labelled and unlabelled insulin are added to the tube, the binding of radioactive insulin is inversely related to the concentration of unlabelled insulin.
