Abstract
A new electron impact apparatus has been used to measure the ionization current of Xe and Kr between the 2P3/2 and 2P1/2 thresholds with a high signal to noise ratio. In both gases we have observed the contribution of several autoionizing d′ levels as well as perturbations of the ionization continuum due to negative ion states. Keywords
