Proof of a Conjecture of S. Weinberg

A proof is given of Weinberg's ${\mathrm{conjecture}}^1$ that the irreducible $N$-particle kernel is of Hilbert-Schmidt type if the potentials, which describe the pair interactions, are square integrable.
