Abstract
Semiclassical model calculations of rate constants for Rydberg-atom destruction through electron transfer in collisions between K(nd) atoms and CF3I and SF6 are presented. The calculated rate constants are in good agreement with experimental data, but at low-to-intermediate values of n fall below those expected on the basis of the simple free-electron model. Reasons for this apparent discrepancy are discussed. Keywords
