Position of the Phytophthora Resistance Gene Rps7 on the Soybean Molecular Map

Abstract
For markers to be used when pyramiding resistance genes in soybean [Glycine max L. (Merr.)], it is necessary that resistance genes be placed on the molecular map. The purpose of this study was to place the phytophthora resistance gene Rps7 on the soybean molecular map. A ‘Clark’ × ‘Harosoy’ isoline mapping population that was segregating at the Rps7 locus was classified for reaction to race 12 of Phytophthorasojae Kaufmann & Gerdemann. Mapping analysis placed Rps7 in linkage group 22 of the Clark × Harosoy molecular map. Linkage group 22 corresponds to linkage group N of the public restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) map and these two maps were integrated into the consensus linkage group N.
