Abstract
For the rotating disk a simulation model has been established, in which the forces acting on a single volume element are considered in order to calculate the velocity of flow. Thus the complicated solving of the Navier‐Stokes‐equation could be avoided. The simulation results have been compared with the analytical solution obtained by Cochran, leading to the conclusion that velocities of flow can successfully be calculated by digital simulation. This is especially important for systems with unknown convection. The velocity of flow obtained from digital simulation can be used to calculate the convective diffusion as a function of the Prandtl number, resulting in a dimensionless current parameter similar to the one derived from analytical calculations. Keywords
