Abstract
Leptosphaeria taiwanensis was frequently isolated from blighted sugarcane leaves, while Cercospora taiwanensis was isolated only rarely. Morphological characteristics of these 2 fungi did not support previous suggestions that they represented 2 life-cycle states of the same species. L. taiwanensis not C. taiwanensis, was the causal organism of sugarcane leaf blight. On potato dextrose agar or sugarcane leaf decoction agar, L. taiwanensis produced Stagonospora and Phoma types of conidia in the same pycnidium. S. tainanesis sp. nov. is proposed as the name for the imperfect state of L. taiwanensis. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
