Abstract
The role of methodological considerations in sociological research is discussed. It is concluded that the argument of Glaser and Strauss in The Discovery of Grounded Theory for a relaxation of the safeguards of verificational studies has only limited applicability; and that methodological considerations should not be avoided in much sociological research. The role of methodological considerations in the development, as well as testing, of theory is discussed. Keywords
