Problems in the psychotherapy of behavior disorders are considered, with special emphasis on transfer to extratreatment settings. The importance of verbal mediators in operant procedures is pointed out, and suggestions made concerning the more effective use of secondary reinforcement and for the enhancement of stimulus and response generalization. It is suggested that treatment is facilitated if clients have knowledge of results and are aware of the principles involved in the therapeutic task.
