Temperature-Related Development of the Imported Crucifer Weevil, Baris lepidii (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), in the Laboratory and Field

Abstract
The average number of days needed for the imported crucifer weevil, Baris lepidii Germar, to complete development from oviposition to egg hatch, pupation, and adult emergence was determined at constant temperatures of 15, 19, 21, 23, 25, and 27°C. The developmental thresholds for hatch, pupation, and adult emergence were 9.69, 6.27, and 4.75°C, respectively. An average of 917, 937, 1,120, 987, and 1,024 centigrade degree-days were needed for development for oviposition to adult emergence in the laboratory, insectary, greenhouse, and two field sites, respectively.
