Abstract
A model of the current X current type for weak interactions has been formulated. The hadronic current is not of the Cabibbo type, but explicit SU(3) breaking by the mass operator is assumed to be present. The model also treats SU(3) as a spectrum-generating group. The predictions of the model for semileptonic decays of hyperons are compared with experimental data and with the predictions of the Cabibbo model. Keywords
