Abstract
An account is given of the abundance, nesting localities, non-breeders, sex ratio, and food of a marine surface-feeding population occurring where drainage from a glacier caused a swarming of the euphausid, Thysanoessa inermis. The mean number of this form removed per day by the kittiwake (Rissa t. tridactyla) alone was 5,778,000. With onset of cold weather the kittiwake decreased in numbers. The food habits of many species are summarized in a table and Thysanoessa was the most important food of both the surface-feeders and the divers, although for the latter species it was not generally as plentiful. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
