Abstract
It is concluded on the basis of critical observation and discussion that sol-gel transformation is the most important factor in ameboid movement. Gelation regularly precedes solation, and protoplasmic streaming represents an orderly relationship between the gelating and solating parts of the body. According to the author ameboid movement cannot be appreciated without giving due consideration to the organization of the body as it is built additively along the advancing end, subsequently reorganized and ultimately disorganized. As these changes take place the body maintains a definite dynamic organization within certain limits.
