Abstract
The rejection phenomenon has been the major obstacle to advances in organ transplantation, and immunodepression has been only partially effective in controlling rejection. The role of the spleen in the rejection of transplanted tissues is still but poorly understood. We have performed trachea transplantations which are based upon an observation that the rejection phenomenon can be altered through denervation of the spleen. The results of these experiments will be discussed. Keywords
