Variations in Radiation Recognition by the Mouse

Abstract
An annular test cage was used to study the behavior pattern of mice free to choose either an irradiated or a shielded environment. At 50 r/min beam recognition appears and is reflected in various combinations of beam avoidance and a confusion pattern, which leads some animals to prefer radiation to shelter. There are only quantitative differences between strains. The relative lack of response with very soft X-rays suggests that lower centers of the central nervous system are primarily involved.
