Abstract
Calculation of the amounts of fluid and cholesterol lost through the capillary walls during prolonged passive congestion revealed that under experimental conditions which did not significantly alter the normal capillary filtration of water no measurable amounts of cholesterol passed the capillary wall. Under experimental conditions presumably inducing alterations in the capillary walls varying amounts of cholesterol were seen to pass from the circulation. The rate of cholesterol filtration showed significant relations both to the rate of fluid filtration and to the initial level of serum cholesterol. Keywords
