Digital Blood Flow in Normal Newborn Infant Measured Calorimetrically.

Abstract
A method for determining digital blood flow after indirect heating in the newborn infant is described. Average digital blood flow in the newborn infant was 0.09 cc/square cm/minute standard deviation [plus or minus] 0.03 within the first 48 hours of life. Average flow at 4-5 days was 0.13, standard deviation [plus or minus] 0.04. Average digital blood flow in the adult is 0.29, range 0.25 to 0.38 cc/square cm/minute.
