Abstract
We examine how internal fields affect orientational energies in superfluid . We find that the orientational effect of a magnetic field due to the interaction between magnetic dipole moments is increased modestly, but that the analogous effect due to the interaction between electric dipole moments induced by an external electric field is suppressed significantly. Our estimated of the electric fields required to produce orientational effects are at least an order of magnitude larger than previous ones.
