Abstract
This article discusses the evolution and current development of the model of human occupation, a conceptual tool designed to enhance the clinical reasoning skills of occupational therapists. A brief overview is provided of a number of conceptual forces in American occupational therapy which preceded and led up to the development of the model; this is followed by a description of the model, its intended clinical use and its implications for British occupational therapy. Keywords
