Abstract
A new principle for optical isolation based on the saturation of a Doppler‐broadened resonance is described. It depends on an initial difference in the power levels of the incident and reflected waves. The technique is demonstrated using an SF6 absorber to isolate the P(18) line of the CO2 transition at 10.57 μm.Keywords
